# SmartSpend — Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the SmartSpend mobile
application (“the app”, “SmartSpend”). By creating an account or using the app,
you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

## 1. The service
SmartSpend is a personal expense-tracking app that lets you scan receipts,
record expenses, set budgets, and view summaries. It is provided free of
charge.
## 2. Your account
– You must provide accurate information when you sign up and keep your login
credentials secure.
– You are responsible for all activity that happens under your account.
– You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your country and at
least 13 years old to use the app.
## 3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
– use the app for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law;
– attempt to access other users’ data, or to bypass the app’s security or
access controls;
– reverse-engineer, disrupt, overload, or interfere with the app or its
backend services;
– upload content that is illegal or that infringes the rights of others.
## 4. Your content
– You retain ownership of the data you put into the app (receipt images,
expenses, notes, budgets).
– You grant us the limited permission needed to store and process that content
solely to operate the app for you (for example, to run OCR and sync your
data).
– You are responsible for the content you upload and for ensuring you have the
right to upload it.
## 5. Accuracy and no financial advice
– OCR (text recognition) and automatic categorization are provided on a
best-effort basis and may be inaccurate. **You are responsible for reviewing
and correcting** the data SmartSpend extracts from your receipts.
– SmartSpend is a personal tracking tool, **not** accounting, tax, investment,
or financial advice. Do not rely on it for tax filings or financial
decisions without verifying the underlying figures yourself.
## 6. Third-party services
SmartSpend relies on third-party services to function, including Supabase
(backend and storage), Google ML Kit and Google Gemini (OCR), Sentry
(diagnostics), and Apple (sign-in and distribution). Your use of the app is
also subject to those providers’ terms where applicable. We are not responsible
for outages or changes in third-party services.
## 7. Intellectual property
The app’s software, design, branding, and the “SmartSpend” name are owned by
the provider and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not
grant you any rights to them except the limited right to use the app as
intended.
## 8. Availability and changes
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the app or any feature at any time. We
aim to keep the app available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free
operation.
## 9. Disclaimer of warranties
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any
kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose,
accuracy, or non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
## 10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the provider shall not be liable for
any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data,
profits, or savings, arising from your use of or inability to use the app.
Because the app is provided free of charge, the provider’s total liability is
limited to the amount you paid for it (which is zero).
## 11. Termination
You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time
(Settings → Delete account). We may suspend or terminate your access if you
breach these Terms. On termination, your right to use the app ends; data
deletion is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.
## 12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without regard
to conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country
of residence remain unaffected.
## 13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be indicated by updating the
“Last updated” date above. Continued use of the app after changes means you
accept the updated Terms.
